I feel like I became officially apart of the beauty club when I brought my first set of acrylic Muji drawers. When they’re neatly organized, freshly cleaned of finger smudges and the light from my window sneaks across the clear plastic, I feel like a good damn Into the Gloss editorial.
Well anyways- ever since I lugged these small towers home I’ve been doing pretty frequent switch outs depending on what I want to focus on makeup wise. The bottom has been the least cycled out since I’ve gotten myself into a steady routine with my selection of base products. It’s an assortment that helps create a glowy, healthy, long lasting, perfected, but natural face. Here’s the round up:
Glossier Priming Moisturizer: This is great for layering. I use this after my morning skincare, so this tops everything off, post SPF of course, and gives a nice light weight added bit of moisture that isn’t sticky but makeup can build well off of.
Milk Makeup Blur Stick: This guy I try to concentrate on my t-zone, but then make sure to go in with my fingers to spread out- so it pretty much ends up all over my entire face anyways. It’s necessary to give this a once over with you fingers to make sure the product doesn’t bunch up and pill. But it’s worth the effort and true to it’s blur name.
One Over One Base Glow: This is one of those great liquid highlighters that can be used in a multitude of ways because the shimmer isn’t blinding or chunky. I love to use it to mix in with foundation, especially a fuller coverage matte foundation to help lighten up the coverage and add a lit from within sort of vibe.
Dr Hauschka Translucent Bronzing Tint: This stuff was on last years ITG top list and I see why. I love using this again, similar to the Base Glow, to add to foundation. But this adds a layer of warmth, so it’s good for deepen lighter foundations or to just help liven up my skin. this stuff is potent though, so I have to remember a light hand is key.
Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24h Foundation: I actually wore this stuff on my wedding day! By far one of my most favorite foundations. This stuff is a solid strong medium, leaning full coverage, but I love that is is very very easy to sheer out. It plays well with other products, which for a fuller coverage foundations can sometime be tricky. It will make it through the day, and won’t break apart especially if set and prepped well.
Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer: This stuff is great for covering up spots! It’s been a fierce staple since it launched this time last year. I generally use it in conjunction with Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer, which isn’t pictured and should have been. I use the more Hydrating option under the eyes and as a bit of a highlighter, and the Soft Matte on break outs and the stubborn red areas around my nose.
Milk Makeup Flex Concealer: Is one of those great all around concealers. It has a wetter formula but don’t let that fool you, it has a lot of coverage. It does really well under the eyes, but you have to make sure to use a light hand, since it does have a lot of coverage, but that isn’t so noticeable until the wetness has dried down a bit, and then you can really spread this guy out.
Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel Cream Bronzer: I actually am still getting the hang of this guy. I find it best to use with a stippling brush or a semi dry blending sponge. If I am not in the mood to make my base cocktail with the One Over One Base Glow and Dr Hauschka Bronzing Tint then I’ll add a bit of this before I do my base. It adds warmth and almost a pre contour but it’s also just a great straight up cream bronzer that layers well.
Glossier Wowder: I think I am almost out of this stuff, and although I am trying really hard to use up my stash, It’ll be a challenge going with out this for a while. Like the Blur Stick, I find this powder is true to its claims: It sets my makeup, takes down excess oil and shine, but doesn’t completely eliminate my glow. I just wish there was a more travel friendly version of this stuff because it is one of the best powders I’ve tried for mid day touch ups.
It’s already getting a bit warmer, and with tons of tempting new launches I’m sure I’ll be rotating some of these guys soon, but they’ve been a solid team for my for a while now. Although a few weeks old, I’m included my latest GRWM video, were I put a large portion of these guys in action.
