Credo Comes to LA

Los Angeles’s busy West 3rd Street has landed it’s very own clean beauty emporium. Credo opened its first Los Angeles destination early February, joining the likes of Murad, Benefit, Aesop and Face Haus on the busy shopping stretch. Always on the hunt for the new thing, I stopped in at the new location a couple of weeks back to see the beautiful blue open air space for myself. It is a welcome shopping experience. Clean, crisp and well organized, it makes it easy to spot old favorites and find new discoveries. Skincare wise they carry classics like Indie Lee, Tata Harper and budget friendly Acure, along with up in comers like Susanne Kaufmann and Lilfox. And they have testers for everything! I booked a mini facial with the lovely Allison. She was refreshing, honest, had a passion for skincare and very soothing hands. The Mini Facials are a great opportunity to test out products you’ve had your eye on and discover new ones you might have never noticed. I really appreciated Allison’s candor when I was selecting products. …

Refining My Face with Osea’s White Algea Mask

Spoiler. It’s a new fav! I think masks are my most commonly purchased skincare items. I use them as a sort of introductory product when testing out a new line. Whether clay, hydrating or just a sheet mask it generally give me a good idea if I want to test out any more from a brand. Well, It’s easy to say that I am eager to test out more from Malibu based Osea, because the White Algea Mask is easily one of my top five favorite masks now. Formulated with Algae Extract’s, the White Algea Mask helps to refine texture, hydrate parched skin, and feed it with anti aging antioxidants. The mask has antioxidant rich White Tea, and White Wine to nourish the skin. Along with skin soothers Aloe Vera, Calendula and Jojoba Oils that really helps to hydrate and calm. It has a mousse like texture that dries down to a sort of almost light clay on the skin, but not uncomfortable or dehydrating like most clay masks can feel. I’ve used this mask a little …

Discover Natural Beauty Brand URB Apothecary

Since I’m such a big natural beauty lover I get excited when I come across new sources. My latest find came via Instagram. When I was searching down some random skincare hashtag I came across URB Apothecary‘s stunning designs and alluring ingredients lists. The line was started by Leyna Allred in Northern California with the desire to reconnect with simple chemical free ingredients. The line reflects that with being free of parbens, preservatives, and chemical additives. Each product seems carefully crafted to include an ingredient list of powerful herbs and is cruelty free. Leyna was very generous and sent me both the Prickly Pear Elixir and the Cactus Face Polish. I’ve pretty much used them both all up and they are indeed stellar. The Prickly Pear Elixir is a gorgeous blend of Pomegranate, Rosehip and of course Prickly Pear. All three oils have high amounts of skin nourishing antioxidants, something I desperately need here in Los Angeles. I’ve been a huge fan of both Rosehip and Pomegranate oils and can now include Prickly Pear on that list as …

Indie Alert: Organic Sheet Masks by Orgaid

If you’ve been following along with some of my previous posts on here or even my Instagrams, you might have noticed me mention (briefly) that I was doing the #30daysheetmaskchallenge. You haven’t heard TOO much about it from me because, well… It didn’t work out. In hindsight I should have known that trying out dozens of different products for a month straight would go terribly wrong. I think my skin just couldn’t handle the variety I was putting it through. Needless to say- I didn’t make it to 30 full days, probably just over 2 weeks. It wasn’t a completely waste though: I still got to test out some really interesting masks, discover new brands and have dozens stock piled for later occasions and posts. One brand I found pretty interesting is US based Organic sheet mask company Orgaid. Orgaid has three different masks, and I tested out one of each. I found them all to be pretty good, solid sheet masks, that all did a nice job of hydrating my skin. Like I mentioned, Orgaid is a …

A Lazy Girl’s Guide to Skincare

Honestly this should be titled the I don’t give a F about skincare but I want good skin guide. Because A) Gender Neutrality… guys want nice skin too! and B) Most all the ‘Lazy Girl’ skin care guides I’ve read aren’t really for the lazy. If you know what a cleansing oil is or what acid toning means, then you’re probably not that lazy…  and this post might not be for you. But please, feel free to send it to your sloth friends who want their skin cake and eat it too. I wont go too in depth, hence only three suggestions, but the post is loaded with useful advice AND a ton of pictures, because hey, shiny visual references to keep your attention! 1. Make Small Changes to Cleansing My first suggestions for those who don’t give two shits about a skin care routine is to just make a couple of small changes to how you wash your face. You probably don’t use a makeup remover or even own one. So just follow the old …

Current Favorites | The (mostly) Skincare Edition

Okay short attention span friends, here is the finale to my Current Favorites. AND, lucky for you, one of my shortest videos yet! (high fives self). I posted my Current Makeup Favorites last week (watch and read it here!) But now here is all the goop skincare wise (mostly) I’ve been slathering onto this body as of late. The video has the scoop, but there’s some sneak peaks and an abbreviated rundown below! I have not used faked tan since I turned myself into a streaked orange mess in grade school (which ultimately resulted in wearing long pants and sleeves in 90 degree weather). Since my wedding was coming up I wanted to add a little bit of color to this strobelight complexion of mine. I found some easy success with St Tropez’s In Shower Tan. A little pricey, but pretty fool proof for the tanning idiot like myself. Hair wise, I’ve been slipping some of Morrocanoil’s famous Hair Treatment on to these tresses of mine. The scent reminds me of walking the Jasmine lined streets …

Shopping List | Whole Foods Beauty

Oh Whole Foods, how I bitter sweetly love you. I long for the day I can shop you and not feel the bite of my credit card after. Luckily for me, and well, YOU, Whole Foods’ beauty section is some how (mostly) spared from its normal aspirational pricing. I have found some darn right steals living on its shelves! Here are 7 of my current favorite skincare gems to buy from Whole Foods! Now unfortunately Whole Foods does not have an online retailer for their beauty stock, which they really really should! So for those interested and don’t have a Whole Foods available to them I included a couple link options for each item! I tried to include links that had similar pricing to what I payed at Whole Foods! This is a great, INTENSE, clay mask. I actually prefer to save this one for my back and chest area which are prone to congestion and black heads. I love how Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay really just pulls everything out, you will be red, …

Farmacy Clear Day Mask Medley: Soothing, Brightening, and Deep Moisture

Sheet masks guys. I remember being skeptical of them when I saw them pop up a few year back, but this was long before my interest in beauty and skincare really took flight, when even moisturizer was a bit of a mystery to me. Now a few years later sheet masks have become a staple for myself and the industry. You know something has reached staple status when not only every luxury brand has their own, but places like CVS have dedicated shelfs to them. I’ve tried a good amount by now, but lets be honest, that’s not even scratching the surface. There are probably more types of sheet masks out there then wine at this point. I like picking up sheet masks as my introductory product to a new line. I think it gives a good, low commitment and economical way of testing the waters of a new range. Recently I’ve found myself a new favorite this way. Farmacy, a newer natural brand carried by Sephora that centers it line around a new found strain of Echinacea, has launched …

All of March I was on a self imposed spending ban, so when the clock finally struck April I went a little crazy. Since I’m getting myself into the youtube scene, I decided to make a Haul vid (typical I KNOW), talking about all the shit I picked up! Love it if you Subscribed! Favorites | April

Here we go again guys! Another month has gone by, so another favorites post and video is due! I was pleasantly surprised that the majority of my April favorites are bargain buys! NEAT. May is already shaping up to be a great month, already a bunch of new products in, adventures documented and DIYs ready to be made, so make sure you are subscribed to my channel! Lots of shit coming your way! This past month I experimented with contouring for the first time. I pick up the Makeup Revolution Ultra Contour Palette, and the new Contour Brush from E.L.F. Both made this total noob get better faster, with out breaking the bank on practice shots. I’ve been slowly trying out the Glossier product range, and the Milky Jelly Cleanser is definitely my favorite out of the bunch. It’s a nice mild cleanser, that does a nice job of cleaning the skin with out drying you out. Expect a full Glossier post in the very near future. Gotta give a hand to NYX Soft Matte …
