The Base Drawer | Long Standing Foundation Favorites

I feel like I became officially apart of the beauty club when I brought my first set of acrylic Muji drawers. When they’re neatly organized, freshly cleaned of finger smudges and the light from my window sneaks across the clear plastic, I feel like a good damn Into the Gloss editorial. Well anyways- ever since I lugged these small towers home I’ve been doing pretty frequent switch outs depending on what I want to focus on makeup wise. The bottom has been the least cycled out since I’ve gotten myself into a steady routine with my selection of base products. It’s an assortment that helps create a glowy, healthy, long lasting, perfected, but natural face. Here’s the round up: Glossier Priming Moisturizer: This is great for layering. I use this after my morning skincare, so this tops everything off, post SPF of course, and gives a nice light weight added bit of moisture that isn’t sticky but makeup can build well off of.  Milk Makeup Blur Stick: This guy I try to concentrate on my …

the lovely lilah b.

A few weeks back I received a package from new makeup company lilah b. This is a brand I’ve been stalking for months on Instagram, so I was ecstatic that they sent a couple things my way. This luxurious minimalistic brand just screams elegance. Their products are, at least from what I have played with, high performing and multi functional. And of course, beautifully packaged in hefty waited ‘stones,’ that slide open to reveal what’s inside. I’ve been using both the Bronzed Beauty and the Divine Duo in b. true pretty much every day since their arrival. The Bronzed Beauty Bronzer Duo* gives a natural sin kissed glow, and is just the perfect shade for my fair complexion. I like to swirl the two shades together, and have even gotten into the habit of draping the powder from my cheeks bones to my eyelids. It’s the perfect touch of added depth to my eyes that looks as chic as it is easy. The Retractable Bronzer Brush* is designed for the bronzer formula, and they do indeed pair …

Get to Know CLE’s Inventive Products

This minimalist brand is anything but boring… Over the last few months I’ve been testing out loads of new things. From eyeshadows to eye masks: I’ve been trying to sniff out the some of the next it thing’s. And let me tell you, CLE is it. This minimalistic California/Korean brand is a fun, streamed lined take on beauty. CLE (or Creative Lass Esthetic) really reminds me of Glossier, yet more refined. It’s hip, but laid back, it’s cool but timeless, it’s artsy, but fun. Just look at the brands Instagram… so chic!  Am I making any sense? Regardless, lets get on with what I’ve been trialling from them…. The Melting Lip Powders are a fun take on a matte lip and they give a great dose of beauty entertainment. They can be used for both lip and cheek, and I think they really shine as blushes. Especially the orange one, Ultra Summer, it’s been perfect for spring. The brown shade, Hot Coco, has been nice when I’m feeling a monochromatic sort of makeup day, using it on my lips and face. …

The New Le Marc Liquid Lip Creme’s by Marc Jacobs

AKA The Perfect Night Out (and in) Pout… I am a big fan of routines. You wouldn’t know it from my disorganized, chaotic, always behind on emails self. But when I actually have my wits about me to fall back on a schedule or routine, shit gets done! My makeup application falls into a similar state. Some days it’s a little all over the place (but fun! I swear…) and then other times I settle into a cohesive pattern that I go back to again and again. I’ve really liked the new Marc Jacobs Le Marc Liquid Lip Creme’s for both of those times: it’s sort of the perfect spur of the moment go to… if that make any sense. I was super lucky and qualified for one of the Marc Jacobs PR Box’s via Influenster a few weeks back. They sent me one of the new Le Marc Liquid Lip Cremes in Truth or Bare and a Poutliner Longwear Lip Liner in Primrose. I’ve been carting around both in my hand bag ever since. The Le Marc …

December Favorites

I know a lot of us in the blog world forgo the December favorites in favor of a yearly round up post or video, but in November and December I tested out way more products than I normally do that I just couldn’t wait for my big 2016 beauty retrospective. I think face wise there is something in every category this go around from Foundation to Lips, there’s a bit of it all. I’ve got two new Holy Grail’s in there: the Heimish Artless Glow Base, and the Air Blush from Marc Jacobs (I fell for Flesh and Fantasy just like every one else, it really is the blush that goes with everything). I found it odd that I haven’t seen anyone else talking about the new Luminizing Drops from Algenist. They have an incredible glow, and Rose is such a unique but flattering lavender highlight. I also hit up a few sales to test out a some hyped up products that lucky weren’t duds, looking at you Artis Oval 6, you make my foundation look …

Two Holiday Minis to Give Yourself

It’s crazy to think we are smack dap in the middle of holiday season already. I feel like it was just last week I was on the hunt for a pair of summer shorts. But here we are, and you know what that means…. lots and lots of shopping. I’m being a little selfish with the theme of this holiday gift post… I think these are two things worth treating yourself too while grinding through your nice list. Don’t worry, I’ve got a couple of awesome gift guides in the works sure to make you everyones favorite giver. Formula X came out with this great travel friendly travel nail polish set this fall. The City Chic set is a mix of great everyday nail colors along with some fun holiday staples. I think I’ve used all the colors by now, and am rocking the glittery shade, Fine Like Einstein, as I type this. The small size is a fun way to test out a bunch of colors, but great for traveling during this time of …

Autumn Makeup Updates: New Loves & A Couple Of Duds

With winter just around the corner, and it now being December… (so basically winter), I thought it was high time I talked about all the Autumn makeup I added and tested out these past three months. I’ve got several new loves I’ve been rocking in these colder days but also some guys I’m still trying to get the kinks figured out of. And sadly there’s even a couple of duds I tried, but just couldn’t fall for… (Like that seasonally themed pun? Yeah, me too..) I’ve heard a lot of lovely things about the Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer, and seeing as my beloved Make Up For Ever one is near the end of it’s life, I figured I’d try something new. It’s supposed to be great for covering spots, redness and pretty much everything… not so sure about that yet. This is one of the products I am still working the kinks out of. As you can see it comes with two color so you can mix it to be your perfect shade. I’ve heard …

Affordable Ulta Beauty

Sadly when things get labeled “drugstore” or even “affordable” a slight distrustful sheen covers over them. Like they are at the onset dubious in quality. I’m guilty of assuming the worst when it comes to drugstore brands, and it’s not with out justification. I’ve burnt many a dollar on products I couldn’t return that were utter duds. As I travel deeper into the hole that is the beauty world, I keep unearthing more and more gems at dirt prices. I think this is where Ulta becomes a god send- lots of brands, occasional testers and a glorious return policy. I had a therapeutic shopping day at the front end of October (I know- it takes me forever to get posts out) and here are my results: I’ve really been wanting to up my nail game at home. I picked up a few colors from China Glaze, as well as a multitude of tools from Sally Hansen, Soap & Glory, Essie and Tweezerman. I’ve used the Cuticle Remover several times by now and it is so …

Monochrome Makeup with Bite Beauty Multisticks

I’ve written about makeup in past favorites posts, but this is my first time dedicating one to the act of actually wearing it! I’ve really been branching out from my usually no-makeup makeup looks with a bit of color this season and Bite Beauty’s Multistick has been my guy! The Bite Beauty Multisticks are pretty much all over youtube and the blog world right now. All the cool girls have been showing off their high fashion monochrome makeup looks for fall and I wanna be a part of the club! The cream to powder formula on these guys makes them a great all around product. You can apply it super opaque straight from the bullet or shear it out to make it into a gorgeous light flush of color. This isn’t the longest lasting formula but it’s ease as a multi functional product makes up for that by being super travel friendly. I’ve been enjoying the color Biscotti as my go to look for a solid 2 months now. If you wanna see how I created this Autumn ready …

A Sephora Haul From Ages Ago

Yup, The title is correct. I’ve got a Sephora Haul from way back in the summer, that I finally got around to filming mid September, and am just now uploading at the end of October. Can you tell I’ve got zero time management skills? I was given several Sephora gift cards for my Birthday back in August and put them to darn good use buying items I normally wouldn’t spend that much money on…. Ah, The glory of gift cards! I’ve had my eye on Korean Beauty brand Neogen Dermolagy for a while now, and got SUPER excited when I saw Sephora stocking an assortment of their items online. I opted for the Lemon Bio-Peel as my intro product to the range. I’m about out of my Pixi Glow Tonic and have been wanting to explore other acid toners. So far I’ve really been loving it. It’s great for hyper-pigmentation, and I had a few cystic type ass hats growing on my forehead that it helped kick to the curb. I think this is the beginning of a …
