Monochrome Makeup with Bite Beauty Multisticks

I’ve written about makeup in past favorites posts, but this is my first time dedicating one to the act of actually wearing it! I’ve really been branching out from my usually no-makeup makeup looks with a bit of color this season and Bite Beauty’s Multistick has been my guy!

The Bite Beauty Multisticks are pretty much all over youtube and the blog world right now. All the cool girls have been showing off their high fashion monochrome makeup looks for fall and I wanna be a part of the club!

The cream to powder formula on these guys makes them a great all around product. You can apply it super opaque straight from the bullet or shear it out to make it into a gorgeous light flush of color. This isn’t the longest lasting formula but it’s ease as a multi functional product makes up for that by being super travel friendly.

I’ve been enjoying the color Biscotti as my go to look for a solid 2 months now. If you wanna see how I created this Autumn ready face (and hear my face chat at yours for about 20 minutes) then please watch the video below!

November Empties | My Beautiful Trash

I love me a good empties post or video! It’s definitely not as glamorous as a haul- where everything is shinny and new and you’re so damn excited about all of it because you’ve only just become acquainted. But it’s much much more honest, and you get the real scoop on whether something is actually crap or not.

I’ve been feeling the guilt of over consumption looming over my head like a blackened rain cloud these past weeks. It’s made me determined to get through the bulk of my stash and get myself to a manageable amount of product for one person. I’ve got a slew of post dated hauls coming forth but considering I only made my way through about a third of my saved empties in this video… expect a bundle of them in the near future.

As you can tell from the video I am a bit of a fan of face mists (Pixi being my main girl in that category) but between mists and cleansers, which surprisingly only one made it in this video, they are my most commonly used up skincare items! Trilogy as a brand has captured my heart, they make such lovely gentle products that smell divine. I’m looking forward to using up more of them in the future.

There’s a few choice products for body and hair in there too! Some top highlights being the incredibly moisturizing Seaberry Body Lotion from Fresh and the ultimate brittle hair saving Conditioner from It’s A 10. Both are great at their jobs but run high in price tag. Don’t worry- there’s cheaper alternative for both used up in the video as well!

A Sephora Haul From Ages Ago

Yup, The title is correct. I’ve got a Sephora Haul from way back in the summer, that I finally got around to filming mid September, and am just now uploading at the end of October. Can you tell I’ve got zero time management skills?

I was given several Sephora gift cards for my Birthday back in August and put them to darn good use buying items I normally wouldn’t spend that much money on…. Ah, The glory of gift cards!

bit-beauty-multistick-biscotti-may-coop-raw-sauce-fresh-balck-tea-age-delay-eye-concentrate-creamsunday-riley-u-f-o-fresh-balck-tea-age-delay-eye-concentrate-may-coop-raw-sauce-bite-beauty-multistick-neogen-bio-peel-lemon

I’ve had my eye on Korean Beauty brand Neogen Dermolagy for a while now, and got SUPER excited when I saw Sephora stocking an assortment of their items online. I opted for the Lemon Bio-Peel as my intro product to the range. I’m about out of my Pixi Glow Tonic and have been wanting to explore other acid toners. So far I’ve really been loving it. It’s great for hyper-pigmentation, and I had a few cystic type ass hats growing on my forehead that it helped kick to the curb. I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

I restocked myself on May Coop’s Raw Sauce. I tested this essence out last year when I was first getting into K-Beauty routines. I knew I really liked it, but wanted to give it a second go around in a more consistent manner. Right now I’ve been enjoying it the most in my morning skincare lineup. It’s really hydrating, but creates a sort of matte base to build off of before I slap my makeup on. Jury’s still out though.

Sunday Riley has officially become my go to skincare line. Whenever she has a new skincare launch I start saving my pennies. The Ultra Clarifying Lotion aka UFO is a pretty good new addition to her line but isn’t my favorite… Good Genes is still my girl. I find UFO to perform similarly to Luna on my skin. Inconsistently: It goes in and out of working on me… Weird I know. It does a decent job with hormonal breakouts, but it’s not always acting like the starting player that it some times is.

I’ve been wanting the Fresh Black Tea Eye Concentrate for eons. I think I’ve gone into Sephora for samples of it at least five times. No Joke. Funny enough, it’s not as good as I remember. It’s still an excellent eye cream, very hydrating and helps (slightly) with discoloration. But I saw such dramatic results when I first started using it and now it’s sort of tapered of… Maybe it’s just the effect of newness wearing of on me.

The only makeup item in this Haul is the much hyped Multisick from Bite Beauty. It took me FOREVER to land on a color, but I’m super happy that I ended up going with Biscotti. It’s such an incredible browny red. I love it the most on my eyes, or doing a sort of draping effect with it into my blush. It’s beautiful on the lips, but something about the color mixing with my natural lip pigmentation makes it lean on the purple side. Lining it with a rich red lip liner solves that issue, and I am fully on trend with a monochrome look!

benefit-brow-gel-cover-fx-sunscreen-sunday-riley-martian-dr-jart-ceramidin

No Sephora Haul is complete with out a few GWP. I am one of the costumers that Sephora most hate. I order everything individually so I can maximizes my samples and mini gifts. I have yet to test out Sunday Riley’s Martian… can’t put too much newness on my face at once… but am excited to give it a go. I’ve recently been busting out the Ceramidin Cream from Dr. Jart+ and am super impressed. I’ve only used it three times but it’s an awesome calming moisturizer.

I was pretty disappointed with the Benefit Brow Gel. It’s really clumpy and flakes fast. I’ve actually been pretty disappointed with most of Benefit’s new Brow Line. It is extensive and I haven’t tried everything… so any winners I’m missing out on?

My favorite discovery in this batch was the Cover FX Sunscreen. I can’t believe I hadn’t heard much to anything about it before. It’s something I think I will use every day in the summer. It’s light weight with zero white cast and acts as a great primer. It’s on my list to pick up during the forthcoming VIB Sale. Hello 20% off!

5 Things I’ve Been Loving Lately

I’m a bit of an over sharer. Now I don’t mean in the emotional, life story sense… usually a bit of a closed book in that regard. But when it comes to things I am passionate about whether that falls under advice or recommendations, I know I can come on a tad strong. I’ve fully witnessed, on several occasions, peoples eyes glaze over by the assault of information I was throwing at them. I’ve momentarily run out of people I know in real life to annoy with my current obsessions, so I’ve come to you! The Internet! Here are Five Things I just can’t shut up about lately!

diptyque-philosykos-roller-ballharper-chukka-boot-noir

I’ve been wanting a new perfume in my rotation for a while, and while heading to my favorite coffee shop I took a small detour to the stand alone Diptyque shop near by and treated myself to a roller ball of Philosykos. I’m one of those annoying people that likes to celebrate their birthday all week long, so this small perfume was a perfect tiny present to gift myself. This scent is so unique and interesting, it’s a little floral but fresh and herbal at the same time. There is a sort of tomato leaf note and some sort of exotic citrus. It’s packaging, like all Diptyque, is romantic and sensual, and it sure makes me feel fancy. I’ve gotten a little addicted to sniffing my wrists.

Nisolo is by far my favorite shoe brand. I stumbled onto them via Instagram a few years back and can’t stop buying them. They make high quality, responsibly made shoes that have a timeless design while being extraordinarily comfortable too boot. (kicking it with the shoe puns). As a small footed person shoe shopping can be worse than bra shopping. Hardly anyone carries my size, so when I heard the sizes ran small, I was all smiles. I got the Harper Chukka Boot about two years back in the burgundy color, and thought adding the black would be a nice addition for the fall. It’s finally cooling down here in LA, so I’ve been able to wear them outside more and more instead of just staring at myself modeling them in the mirror.

kat-von-d-liquid-lipstick-vampira-lolita-2-mini-swatchhada-labo-super-hyaluronic-acid-lotion

I’ve really lucked out on the Gift With Purchase game these past months. Two separate Sephora orders resulted in a couple of different Kat Von D minis. I was the most impressed with the Liquid Lipsticks. Previously I would stray from such bold colors, but these two have fully converted me. Lolita 2 is such an awesome brick brownish red that ACTUALLY looks good on me. And Vampira has become my new favorite bold color of all time. I’ve been lightly dabbing it on for a stained berry color during the day, and then layering it up for a full vamp look for the evening. Sadly by the time I got to writing this I had lost my beloved Vampira at the Beyonce concert at dodgers stadium this September (I guess you can’t visit the queen with out making an offering…), so expect to see the full size in a haul in the near future, I don’t think I can make it through Autumn without this shade.

I think I’ve slapped Hada Labo’s Rohto Gokujyn Hyaluronic Acid Lotion on my face every day for the last 6 weeks- twice. This stuff is such a unique product that is just plan awesome. It’s some where between a lotion/serum/moisturizer/essence thing. I find it acts as a great base before layering on serums, it’s lovely on top of any serums- acting as a light moisturizer, and I also really love using its as a primer to help my makeup set and look dewy at the same time. It just adds a nice bit of hydration to build off of for whatever you want to do next. It’s also super gentle and really helped my skin heal after a bad reaction my skin had a month back. If you are wanting a little something extra into your skin care routine I think Hada Lado would be an awesome and economical addition!

the-get-down

Netflix has really been killing it on the original content front. We all know by now that Strangers Things is the fucking greatest- But one show you might have scrolled past that’s worth your time is The Get Down. I know a bunch of people felt pretty meh about it, but I found it fresh and super fun. The fast paced editing, the sort of comic book style structure along with a booming soundtrack made for a awesome almost theatrical feeling experience. I’ve always had a soft spot for Baz Luhrmann and his spin on 1970’s harlem and the fictional rise of hip hop was just a damn fun time. Also If you are queuing up Luke Cage I highly recommend getting through The Get Down first. There are a lot of cultural references that run parallel and enrich the Luke Cage story line further with this as a sort of vague history of black pop culture.

Thanks for letting me spill the beans! What is something you’ve fallen hard for that you want everyone to know about? Let me know! Maybe soon I won’t be shutting up about it either!

Indie Alert: Organic Sheet Masks by Orgaid

If you’ve been following along with some of my previous posts on here or even my Instagrams, you might have noticed me mention (briefly) that I was doing the #30daysheetmaskchallenge. You haven’t heard TOO much about it from me because, well… It didn’t work out.

In hindsight I should have known that trying out dozens of different products for a month straight would go terribly wrong. I think my skin just couldn’t handle the variety I was putting it through. Needless to say- I didn’t make it to 30 full days, probably just over 2 weeks. It wasn’t a completely waste though: I still got to test out some really interesting masks, discover new brands and have dozens stock piled for later occasions and posts. One brand I found pretty interesting is US based Organic sheet mask company Orgaid.

orgaid-organic-sheet-mask-vitamin-c-revitalizing-greek-yogurt-nourishing-anti-aging-moisturizing

Orgaid has three different masks, and I tested out one of each. I found them all to be pretty good, solid sheet masks, that all did a nice job of hydrating my skin. Like I mentioned, Orgaid is a US based company that claims to be the only brand that actually manufactures their sheet masks here in the U.S.A. I personally love that. I love my skin care from all over, but I hold a special place in my heart for US based and US made!

orgaid-organic-sheet-mask-vitamin-c-revitalizing-greek-yogurt-nourishing-anti-aging-moisturizing-how-to

The range includes 3 masks: Greek Yogurt/Nourishing, Anti-Aging/Moisturizing, & Vitamin C/Revitalizing.

They all contain some USDA Certified Organic materials. Are all Parben, Alcohol, Sulfate and Fragrance Free! (Yay!). Each mask uses ‘Ecoderma‘ Fabric, a new type of fabric that supposedly adheres to the face better and allows serums to absorb better into the skin.

Each mask is supposed to help with a targeted skin issue, containing relevant ingredients for each concern. Greek Yogurt/Nourishing contains Greek Yogurt, Pro-Vitamin B5, Aloe Vera and Chamomile to nourish and tighten skin. Anti-Aging/Moisturizing has antioxidant rich Horsetail and Green Tea along with Niacinamide, and Aloe Vera to help with the signs of aging. And lastly Vitamin C/Revitalizing has a hardy amount of Vitamin C’s and A’s from Arginine, Orange Peel, Rosehip and Pomegranate extracts to help brighten the complexion.

Each mask has a large amount of both Glycerin and Hyaluronic Acid. Making all three, great at giving the skin a jolt of hydration.orgaid-organic-sheet-mask-vitamin-c-revitalizingorgaid-organic-sheet-mask-vitamin-c-revitalizing-ecoderma-fabric

I found the Ecoderma fabric to fit pretty comfortably on the skin, with little fidgeting needed. Each pouched contained a decent amount of serum at the bottom for me to spread over my neck and décolletage while I let the mask sink into my skin.

It’s recommend to leave on for 20-30 minutes, and I found it still decently moist past the 30 minute mark. I tired them both day and night, and found using in the morning a tad too sticky to layer under makeup without rinsing my face off first. I did find the masks an excellent pre bed addition to my nightly routine, a sat nicely under my night cream.

orgaid-organic-sheet-mask-vitamin-c-revitalizing-ecoderma-fabric-made-in-usaorgaid-organic-sheet-mask-vitamin-c-revitalizing-ecoderma-fabric-my-two-pence

I didn’t find a huge difference between the three variety, with a tad more brightening effect with the Vitamin C one though. I do find that with a lot of sheet masks though- that the differences are subtle, and the options of different masks are great for those with sensitivity to certain ingredients rather than really being greatly dissimilar.

Orgaid is pooping up onto more and more retailers lately. I think I came across them first via scrolling through Free People’s newly expanded beauty section (highly recommend- they carry Pai!). In the world of sheet masks they are on the pricey side – fitting in more with some of the luxury brands like Farmacy and Karuna you see at Sephora. But honestly for a US made, and Organic product the price seems pretty fair!

You can find Orgaid via their website, Amazon or Free People.

A Lazy Girl’s Guide to Skincare

Honestly this should be titled the I don’t give a F about skincare but I want good skin guide. Because A) Gender Neutrality… guys want nice skin too! and B) Most all the ‘Lazy Girl’ skin care guides I’ve read aren’t really for the lazy.

If you know what a cleansing oil is or what acid toning means, then you’re probably not that lazy…  and this post might not be for you. But please, feel free to send it to your sloth friends who want their skin cake and eat it too.

I wont go too in depth, hence only three suggestions, but the post is loaded with useful advice AND a ton of pictures, because hey, shiny visual references to keep your attention!

1. Make Small Changes to Cleansing

My first suggestions for those who don’t give two shits about a skin care routine is to just make a couple of small changes to how you wash your face.

You probably don’t use a makeup remover or even own one. So just follow the old rinse and repeat with the face wash you already have. Lather up once and rinse: This will remove most of your makeup and sunscreen. Then lather up a second time and rinse away: This will actually clean your skin. If you don’t double cleanse you risk leaving behind traces of makeup on your face which can lead to acne. Also any skin beneficial ingredients in your cleanser won’t get a chance to do their job since they’re never really touching your face by just getting the gunk off.

The second part of this tip is to make sure to wash your face last. You’re probably washing your face 90% of the time in the shower and cleaning yourself in order of whatever is closest to grab. If you can remember, make washing your face the last thing you do before you get out of the shower. Suds from shampoo & conditioner and even residue from your toothpaste can linger on your skin, potentially irritating and clogging up your pores. Waiting until the very end gives you a little bit more insurance that you’re actually fresh faced!

2. Invest in Multifunctional Products

If the idea of owning a plethora of different products for a myriad of reasons sounds like a big fat hassle, then I suggest investing in a few products that do a lot. There are hundreds of products on the market that combine so many skin care steps into just one. Streamlining your products could be a quick answer to some skin care concerns you might be facing. I’ve got a few examples for your shopping list below:

For the Exceptionally Lazy

avene-cleansing-gelit-cosmetics-cc-cream-your-skin-but-better-dr-jart-bb-cream-dis-a-pora-black-label-detox-premium

A lot of body washes out there can also be cleansers, and visa versa. Avene makes a cleanser that can be used ALL OVER YOUR BODY. No separate face and body wash needed. It’s pretty gentle and does a great job at removing excess sebum (stuff that can clog your pores). And it’s French, so you can feel fancy too.

BB & CC Creams are a great all in one Skin-Care-Meets-Makeup-And-Then-Some Product. Dr Jart+ is sorta the king of BB creams, there’s practically one for every concern. Dis-A-Pore is good for oily skin types and helps treat blemishes. Both Black Label Detox and Premium have anti-aging properties, with Detox focusing a little more on dark spots and Premium on firmness. They all kinda do a lot of the same things though, while all providing SPF and some light coverage.

IT Cosmetics makes an incredible CC Cream. It’s ingredient list might be as long as I am tall, but it’s never irritated my skin. It’s pretty much a full coverage foundation, contains a high SPF, and is loaded with hydrating and anti-aging ingredients. If you don’t have crazy dry skin, you might even be able to get away without a moisturizer underneath. I could sing this products praises more, but you probably don’t care. But if you do, read more about it here!

For the Sorta Lazy

acure-marula-oil-josie-maran-pure-argan-oil-organicsunday-riley-tidal-cream-shikai-borage-facial-jurlique-calendula-redness-rescue-josie-maran-argan-daily-moisturizer-spf-47

Oils are a great option for someone wanting one thing that does a whole lot. Josie Maran’s Argan Oil and Acure’s Marula Oil are both great moisturizers packed with vitamins and antioxidants (i.e: things that make your skin withstand the elements and environment better…) These oils are super multifunctional. They are great on the face but can be used all over the body, including your hair. Oils will help your skin (and hair) glow.

Moisturizing is pretty damn important. I think a good moisturizer can make a huge difference in your skin. Most moisturizers do more then just lock in hydration these days, they can also help combat any number of complexion issues you’re facing.

Sunday Riley’s Tidal is packed with enzymes, so it will slightly exfoliate the skin creating a brightening effect. It’s light whipped texture is suitable for all skin types especially oily. I always point people towards Jurlique’s Calendula Cream if they have sensitive skin that’s prone to redness and inflammation. Shikai’s Borage Facial Moisturizer is an all time favorite of mine. Borage is rich in Vitamin A, so it’s an excellent anti-aging option. And last to name drop is Josie Maran’s Daily Moisturizer, this guy is pretty thick feeling, so those on the oily side might not get along. But it’s packed with nutrient rich Argan oil and has one hell of a high SPF.

For The Almost Not Lazy

sunday-riley-blue-moon-cleansing-balm-mask-dr-jart-dermaclear-trans-foam-clay-green-white-pink

Mask-to-Cleanser products are nothing new (#Throwback #Neutrogena #Highschool) but they sure are getting popular again! If you feel like doubling up some skincare action, Mask/Cleansers are a great option. You can slap it on, putter around your house for a bit, then wash it off. Easy Peasy.

Dr. Jart+ makes a collection of clay masks that transform into gentle foaming cleansers. Clay is great for detoxing and decongesting your skin while also slightly exfoliating. Like Dr. Jart+’s BB Creams, there’s a few different to choose from, with just slight variations depending on your preference. The final product push I’ll make on you is Sunday Riley’s Blue Moon Cleansing Balm. I did a long ass review a few months ago if you’re interested…. This cleansing balm doubles as a superb hydrating mask with a bunch of skin enriching ingredients, but also does a darn good job of cleaning the face!

3. Just Pay Someone Else to Do It

If you’ve got the time and money I highly suggest investing in facials and making that dermatologist visit you keep putting off.

You probably are not interested in doing at home detoxing masks, routine exfoliation and the occasional peel. These and other steps really help the health and glow of your skin. By getting a facial you get all the pampering you can’t muster to give yourself and you just get to lay there! There are cheaper places popping up that do ‘express’ facials for less then your normal 60-90 minute affair. Also if you get a good esthetician (I suggest going to a well reviewed and/or a highly recommended one from someone you know), they should be able to read your skin and address any concerns you might have while taking into consideration your interest in it all.

A dermatologist can give you practical AND medical advice. They can administer some more intense, but highly effective treatments. Also they have the power to prescribe you powerful products you can’t get over the counter.

A lot of dermatologist, and estheticians for that matter, can get a little pushy with products, especially when it’s their own brand. That doesn’t mean that they wont have excellent recommendations. Just be upfront about not wanting too many products in your life and they (hopefully) wont overload you.

Speaking of overload, this word count has breached 1,200! Time to wrap it up. I hope this was some help to those lazy folks and dedicated skin care fans alike out there! Did you find anything new and useful? I too was once overwhelmed about skincare and just couldn’t be bothered… but just look at me know! Obsessed and writing about it on the internet! 🙁

End of Summer Cleansers

It might already be September, (I know, where DID the year go…) but summer doesn’t give its’ last hurrah until the 22nd of this month!

As the true end of Summer draws near, I find it’s the perfect time to switch up my skin care. The seasonal changes bring upon a necessary routine transition. Besides layering up on serums and gravitating towards more richer night creams, I find rotating my cleansers helps me with any lingering summer skin fatigue and preps me for some of the colder weather ahead. Here’s my current go-to’s that I’ve found pair nicely with this in-between time of year.

HADA LABO Tokyo Hydrating Facial Cleanser

HADA LABO Hydrating Facial Cleanser

HADA LABO TOKYO HYDRATING CLEANSER

The Hada Labo Tokyo Hydrating Cleanser is a good bridge from summer into fall for those of us with dryer skin types. It’s creamy in consistency, but foams up really well. It does an excellent job removing dirt and makeup with out stripping the skin. The gentle formula leaves my skin clean but rather silky. I like to use this for any cleansing step whether it’s my first, second or morning cleanse depending on how dry my skin is feeling at that time. It’s used on wet skin, so I’ve been mainly keeping it in my shower and lathering it on my face at night as a first cleanse.

It’s got a pretty great formula, especially for something that has such a reasonable price tag. It’s fragrance free, paraben free, soap free, alcohol free, and dye free. (Ulta, Target, Amazon)

OSKIA London Renaissance Cleansing Gel Melting CleanserOSKIA Renaissance Cleansing Gel

OSKIA RENAISSANCE CLEANSING GEL

Oskia’s Renaissance Cleansing Gel is such a luxurious cleanser. Applied to dry skin, this gel texture is much more akin to an oil based cleanser. It’s non-foaming formula glides onto the skin, smells fantastic (rose and chamomile), and gives skin a boost from its awesome ingredients list. It has light chemical exfoliating properties from fruit enzymes that remove dead skin cells making it great for removing any lingering grim from those long summer days. This cult status cleanser has Rose, Vitamins (A, B, C and E), Omegas, and Magnesium, providing skin with nutrients and free radical protection. The formula is very hydrating. Again, like Hada Labo, Oskia can be used as a makeup remover and a first or morning cleanse. I personally love to use this in the morning, starting my skin off on a hydrated and protected note.

It’s got such an incredible ingredient list. You can find the complete listing here. It’s a higher price tag cleanser, but great for those who want to invest in a good one. (Beauty Bay, Look Fantastic, Cult Beauty)

SUM 37 Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick

SU:M 37 MIRACLE ROSE CLEANSING STICK

Now I just can’t seem to rave about this cleanser enough! SU:M 37 Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick is one of my all time favorite skincare items. I went into great detail about my love for it a few weeks back (read the post here) so I won’t talk your ear off too much about it. Lets just say this guy is a lovely low PH cleanser that I think would work well during any season and climate. It’s packed with calming and hydrating ingredients like coconut oil, green tea and of course lots of rose. MRCS is a fermented cleanser, with over 90% natural ingredients, and it’s the most travel friendly skincare product I have ever found! I use the Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick as mainly my second cleanse at night, but often rotate it in as a morning cleanser as well!

The light foaming formula is applied to wet skin, and I think It would do well on pretty much any skin type. Free from artificial colors, parabens, and synthetic preservatives. (SokoGlam! MEMEBOX, Amazon)

OSKIA Renaissance Gel HADA LABO Hydrating Facial Cleanser SUM 37 Miracle Rose Stick

These three have been my staples for the past few weeks, and weather dependent, probably for the next few to come! When we get into full fall mode I’ll most likely be switching in some cream based cleansers like Pai’s Camellia and Rose Gentle Cleanser, and maybe some oil based ones as well! Do you find yourself switching up your skin care as the season changes? Do you have a stand out product that you find works well all year round?

Current Favorites | The (mostly) Skincare Edition

Okay short attention span friends, here is the finale to my Current Favorites. AND, lucky for you, one of my shortest videos yet! (high fives self). I posted my Current Makeup Favorites last week (watch and read it here!) But now here is all the goop skincare wise (mostly) I’ve been slathering onto this body as of late. The video has the scoop, but there’s some sneak peaks and an abbreviated rundown below!

I have not used faked tan since I turned myself into a streaked orange mess in grade school (which ultimately resulted in wearing long pants and sleeves in 90 degree weather). Since my wedding was coming up I wanted to add a little bit of color to this strobelight complexion of mine. I found some easy success with St Tropez’s In Shower Tan. A little pricey, but pretty fool proof for the tanning idiot like myself.

st tropez in shower tan morrocanoil hair treatment oil

Hair wise, I’ve been slipping some of Morrocanoil’s famous Hair Treatment on to these tresses of mine. The scent reminds me of walking the Jasmine lined streets of Italy, Oh and it works pretty damn well too.

sunday riley luna sleeping night oil retinol blue tansy

For the face, in terms of oil, I’ve been using both Trilogy’s Organic Rosehip Oil (read review here, and another video with it here!) and Sunday Riley’s Luna Sleeping Night Oil this summer. Trilogy’s Rosehip Oil has been a free radical fighting, moisturizing savior and I have Luna to thank for combating my terrible skin from eating to much cheese and wine these past months. I originally was pretty meh about Luna (review here) but I gave it a 2nd chance, and it was worth it! Time to make an update addendum to that review I guess.

karuna sheet masks brightening age defying exfoliating

Karuna Sheet Masks have been a staple of mine for years, and it was time I gave them a proper shout out. They are local here to LA (Yay!) and really give your skin a super shot of glow. They’ve often got some great deals going via their direct website ($20 off code here!) and I fricking love grabbing the Sampler Pack when it’s on promotion! Great way to test out a bunch!

There’s a couple more favorites that are not pictured above, but I’ve got to give you some incentive to watch my videos! If you haven’t already, go check out my Current Favorites pt. 1! There are some amazing makeup discoveries in there… Most of which I wore on my wedding day! Hope you all are having a lovely end of summer! Please let me know what you’ve been digging as of late, I love hearing what’s been floating y’alls boats!

SU:M 37 Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick (and the rise of twist up soap)

The K-Beauty scene is really exploding here in the States right now. I’ve been sort of dipping my toe into it over the last year by picking up the occasional sheet mask or essence and sporadically dabbling with a 10 step Korean style skincare routine. But not until this past summer did I really dive in and start picking up on all the cool shit that is out there!

I by no means know even the tip of the iceberg (and it’s a big iceberg) but I’ve been steadily educating myself on some of the most beloved products and trends at the moment. One product in-particular that kept popping out at me was the much hyped, cult status face wash: SU:M 37 Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick

SUM 37 Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick

WHAT IS IT?

The Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick has a bit of a craze around it. In part because of it’s low PH, which is great to have in cleanser, but also due to its incredible packaging and excellent ingredients. It’s formulated without parabens, artificial colors or synthetic preservatives, in fact it contains 90% natural ingredients.

Now the brand SU:M 37 is on the higher end of Korean beauty lines with the core of the brand revolving around fermented ingredients. Fermentation is supposed to increase the potency of an ingredient, as well as increase the efficiency of the ingredients absorption. (That’s a pretty simplified version of something much more complicated) In fact the name SU:M 37 translate to su:m = “taking a break & breathing” and the 37 representing the ideal temperature for fermentation.

SUM 37 Cleanser K Beauty Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick

WHATS IN IT?

The Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick (or MRCS) uses Fermented Rose Damask Extract as it’s star ingredient (although not at the top of list). Rose is such a lovely, hydrating, calming and antiseptic ingredient. It’s one of my favorite ingredients to look for in cleansers, and I’m super intrigued by the idea of it having increase potency since its fermented. (also check out Gothamista’s video on Fermented skincare! Very helpful!)

The MRCS also includes a hefty amount of Glycerin (it is the first ingredient), although a cheaper ingredient it is a great humectant moisturizer (meaning it helps draws moisture into the skin). Other moisturizing ingredients on the list are Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, and Apricot Kernel Oil. Which all have additional benefits, like anti oxidants, essential fatty acids, and vitamins.

SUM 37 Petals My Two Pence

I love seeing Camilla Oil and Green Tea on the list! Both are two of my favorite ingredients to look for in my skin care lately due to their high concentration of anti-oxidants. It does contain a few essential oil that some might find irritating like Lemon and Orange Peel. But I’ve actually found them beneficial to my skin since they are effective antiseptics on me.

Ingredients list From SokoGlam:

Glycerol, Water, Orange Peel Oil, Lime Peel Oil, Lemon Peel Oil, Green Tea Seed Oil, Coconut Oil, Basil Oil, Ylang Ylang Flower Oil, Marjoram Oil, Fermented Damask Rose Extract, Apricot Seed Oil, Olive OIl, Sunflower Oil, Betaine, Stearic Acid, Lauric Acid, Camellia Oil, Tocopherol, Rose Flower Water, Potassium Hydroxide, Lauryl Betaine

The soap also includes small bits of rose petals, which might be just for show, but I find a pleasant aesthetic touch. The stick I’ve been using has very small petal particles, but I have read those with larger chunk were bothersome to other users. Couldn’t care less! It’s so damn pretty!

WHY I LOVE IT and HOW I USE IT

Let’s get the superficial reasons for why I love it out of the way first. The Packaging. It’s so convenient, yet stylish. The light pink casing and gold lettering are so elegant and sophisticated. And for around $24 this long lasting cleanser seems extremely worth it’s hype.(Supposedly this cleanser was pretty hard to get your hands on a few months back. Luckily I snagged this during a good, replenished time and through a reasonably priced seller. I read of some people shelling out nearly $50 bucks for this thing. Fuck no. This thing is great but not that great.)

Now for the practical… I really adore this as a second cleanse at night or in the shower as my morning cleanse. I would not recommend this as a makeup remover/first cleanse. It’s beautiful, skin beneficial ingredients would be wasted as one anyways! It does an excellent job of gently cleansing my skin without leaving it feeling stripped. And it’s lovely rose scent is a wonderful bonus.

I apply it directly to a damp face, lather it up, and rinse off. I don’t like chancing any mildew growing on it since it is 90% natural ingredients, so I rinse off the top part of the soap after each use, and let it dry completely before replacing the cap. It’s super travel friendly like everyone mentions. It was excellent for tossing into my overnight bag for a recent staycation at The Line Hotel for my 30th birthday!

SU:M 37 MRCS is at total cult status now. It might not have been the first soap in stick form, but it defiantly created the hype that many retailers are following! It’s low PH has made it hard for people to dupe but lots of similar style cleansers are hitting the market! I’ve recently spotted a charcoal one from Boscia, an exfoliating one from Tarte, and a chamomile one from Belif that I am super anxious to try next!

You can find SU:M 37 Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick at a number of online retailers (SokoGlam!, MEMEBOX, and Amazon to name a few) But I’ve heard bad experiences of purchasing this item off of Ebay with people receiving expired versions! So be warned!

Current Favorites | The Makeup Edition

It has been a bit (to say the least) since I sat down here and gushed about all the things I’ve been loving as of late. It’s been so long, and I’ve found so many things I want to rave on about, that I thought it better for all of our attention spans to break it up into two parts. Here we have my current Makeup Favorites, or rather, all the shit I’ve been painting onto my face for the last 3 or so months. There’s some sneak (photo) peaks below, but the video has the full scoop!

A huge percentage of these guys I actually wore for my Wedding (mainly all the Lancome bits). That Teint Idole is no joke, it might not actually be 24hr wear but it sure got me through at least 10-12 hours of looking photo worthy! They didn’t just grace this face for my nuptials, I’ve been loving them all on the regular as well. The Juicy Shaker for instance has made my purse its’ home this summer.

Lancome Juicy Shaker Good Karamel

Cocktail inspired lip wear aside, I’ve been really into Frog Prince by Lipstick Queen and Revlon Ultra HD in Forever. They’ve been my go to’s this summer. Contrasting in color, but both accent the vibe I’ve been oscillating between this season. It’s all berries and browns man.

Caudalie Bronzer Lancome Mocha Havana Blush

While in Paris I picked up  A bronzer from Caudalie that is just so tres chic! AND it smells divine. I had a little to much fun at Bourjous stands alone store in Paris, (read the post here) and fell hard for the mascara I picked up there. Kicking myself for not grabbing two.

Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Eyeshadow Palette

Lastly I finally jumped onto the Gwen Stefani Eyeshadow Palette train… I know, you all were on it months ago. The deal hound in me just wasn’t down for shelling out its crazy price tag. So when I saw this sucker hit $25 I knew it was time to be mine. But you can hear all this and more in the video. Plus way more incredible makeup bits along with!

Current Makeup Favoites My Two Pence

I’ve got part two coming up next week with a ton of super awesome skincare, a body care bit and even something for the hair. But between then and now I’d love to know what you’ve been grooving on your face this summer and if we’ve got some similar loves. 🙂
